Blueprint for a Greener Coast: How VinUniversity Is Helping Nha Trang Reinvent Itself
What does it look like when a university doesn’t just study sustainability — but actually helps build it? VinUniversity’s GREEN-X Center is doing exactly that in Nha Trang. Working directly with the Nha Trang City People’s Committee, GREEN-X led the development of a comprehensive Green Transformation and Green Growth Master Plan for 2024–2030, integrating green technology, digital transformation, and smart applications across the city’s key sectors. The plan covers green tourism, transport, industry, agriculture, urban infrastructure, and lifestyle — comprising 51 targets and 52 concrete projects aimed at transforming Nha Trang into a green, civilized, and sustainably developed urban area. The initiative mobilized over 50 experts from Oxford, Duke, and UPenn, directly impacting 1.2 million residents and 11,000 businesses. It won Vietnam’s ESG Award 2024, and the model is already being replicated across Khanh Hoa Province, Binh Dinh, Ho Chi Minh City, and Phu Quoc.
